Lesson Plan: listening comprehension of the song “Use My Voice” by Evanescence.
Level: Intermediate / Advanced
Age: Teens (16+) / Adults
Aim: Conversation about politcs and responsibility.
Context: In times of worldwide crises, we all, certainly, need a change. When most of our governors show incompetence or just lack of interest, it is time to say out loud what we want and need.

This activity leads to a conversation about social responsibility, choices, and change.
Listening Activity – Lesson Plan
- Listen to the song carefully and try to get words that rhyme with the ones in the exercises.
- Play the song twice and correct the activity according to the answer key provided.
- Ask the students if they understood the meaning of the lyrics. Let them talk about it. If the understanding is not completely clear, lead them to the right meaning of the song, showing some sentences.
- Discuss the question below:

- How can we use our voices?
- Is voting compulsory in your country?
- What is your opinion about it?
- Is voting important? Why? Why not?
- Who’s opinion do you consider before voting?
- Has your interest in politics increased or decreased over the past recent events around the world?
- What can the government do to fix your country’s situation? What can the citizens do to fix it?
